Discover the distinctive traits of Survivor Island with a two hour overland journey to the Kuala Penyu Jetty –passing through scenic countryside views of Papar, Bongawan and Membakut. Continue on with a 30 minute boat cruise ride to our island. Geologically, our island was only formed over a hundred years ago by several volcanic mud eruptions off the coast of Borneo. The combination of subterranean gas pressure expelled muddy sediments have built-up the island to its present height of 100 meters above sea level. As a result, it is well celebrated for its natural therapeutic volcano mud baths - just a hike away from our resort.

You are more than welcome to spend your days exploring various wildlife by trekking or bird watching at our local park where admissions are inclusive in this package. Tap into the mysterious beauty of Kalampunian Island just slightly offshore to Survivor Island, Borneo. The island is made out of a small sand cay built up from unconsolidated coral fragments. Most remarkably the shape of the island shifts and changes with the prevailing monsoon winds and currents. The splendour of this island lies at its naturalistic attributes – celebrated as a breeding ground for various amphibious sea snakes, namely Laticauda Colubrina.

Legend has it that due to a family feud over centuries ago, a remorseful member of the family ran away from Survival Island to pacify her sadness among the sea snakes –making the smaller island her home. It is believed that until today her soul rests within Kalampunian and for that very reason it still draws hundred of snake species as a notion of proving her ever-present existence.

On any given day up to 150 snakes will be present on the island and is frequently spotted coiled in a tangled mass under boulders or among roots and in tree hollows. Unsurprisingly, it is also widely known as Snake Island amongst the locals. The island is still a fascinating phenomenon and have therefore attracted countless number of tourists. Surprise your children to this amazing experience! Imagine threading on the sea bed of "Finding Nemo" and "The Mermaid" - Your children will be thrilled and delighted with this experience. Seawalking is an experience which is fairly new but increasingly popular. This experience is perfect for non-scuba divers( even non-swimmers), and even children(aged 7-12) as it provides them the unique opportunity to experience the underwater world up close and personal.

Sea walking involves donning on a specially-made pressurized helmet that is attached to an air hose on a guide boat, climbing down into about 15 feet of ocean and walking along the sea bed for 20 to 30 minutes where you can see marine plants and coral up close and even hand-feed tropical fish.

Seawalking is especially designed for the non-swimmers and non-divers to enable them to explore and experience the mysterious underwater world which previously only could be enjoyed by qualified divers. With the special designed helmet, oxygen is supplied directly to the helmet, thus keeping the water out and at the same time enabling the seawalker to breathe normally while underwater.

At any one time only a maximum of eight persons can do the seawalking and we have three well-trained guides who will be with you throughout the duration of the seawalk.

Prior to your experience, your guides will brief you on some safety regulations on what to do and what not to do when underwater. While you are underwater, one of our staff will be taking pictures and a short video clip ! We will give you a CD and you will also receive a seawalking certificate.
