Experience one of Malaysia's ancient entertainment culture - the Wayang Kulit or Shadow Play; unique to the state of Kelantan. You've probably just seen the shows and watched it on television but this experience will actually allow you to try for yourself; hands-on in creating your very own puppet and even perform your very own shadow play!
If this is your first time in Malaysia, this is must-do experience here in Kelantan OR if you're a local and never experienced 'wayang kulit' before, then we guarantee that you will leave with a new-found appreciation for Malaysian culture and tradition!
Your experience will start with by learning the art of creating these delicate puppets. A craftsmen will demonstrate, teach and guide each of you on how a puppet is created from scratch. You will learn the basics of how a puppet is sketched, what materials are used how a puppet is put together.
You will also be given the opportunity to paint your very own puppet which can be used for the next part of this experience - your very own shadow play performance!
Accompanied by Gamelan musicians and guided under your very own puppeteer master, you and your friends will get to put together your own puppet play! For the first 30 minutes of the session, you will demonstrated on how a shadow play is performed. After that, the spotlight will just be on you and your friends - to come up with your very own puppet skit and learn how a puppet s controlled.
Be sure to record this whole performance as this experience does not come by very often! Experience the uniqueness of this ancient entertainment and you will leave with a new-found appreciation for Malaysian culture and tradition!

Participant Guidelines
You will only learn the basics of creating a shadow play puppet as an actual puppet requires at least 3 days of effort to create a puppet from scratch.

Availability
Please ensure booking at least 3 days in advance. We are open from Thursdays to Sundays from 9am - 5pm. We are closed on Fridays.
Number on Days
You may be joined by other patrons during your puppet making workshop. However, the performance session is only performed by your group. There may be an audience on the day.
Duration of Experience
Approximately 6 hours in total
Puppet making workshop : Approximately 3 hours. You may conduct the session anytime during the day.
Shadow Play Performance : Only available from 9pm to 11pm
Dress Code
Comfortable clothing. We strongly advise you to wear non-revealing clothes as you will be entering into a village area.
