Plan to visit Malaysia but want to experience what really makes the country unique? Or perhaps you know someone who has never experienced village life and has always wanted to go away somewhere peaceful to immerse in a new or different culture? We have an experience perfect for tourists and even locals alike that will allow you to experience the full spectrum of village life.
Malaysia's friendly traditional communities have opened up their homes to foreign guests so they can have a taste of the kampung or village lifestyle to cherish for a lifetime. Experiencing a homestay in a traditional village is perhaps one of the fastest and easiest ways to get to know the real Malaysia, where time flows at a snail’s pace and the air is clean and fresh.
Be "adopted" by a local family and be treated as a member of the family for the duration of your stay. To get a better appreciation of the culture, you may wear traditional attire, play kites with the children, eat simple local food, observe local customs, architecture, and furniture and participate in village activities.
Upon you arrival, you will be welcomed by the beats of the 'kompang', a type of local drum. This is the traditional way of welcoming guests. Then you will be presented with a demonstration of a traditional 'gasing', top game.
Next, you will be handed over to your adopted family. Once you have settled down, you will be having dinner with your adopted family. Right after dinner, there will be an interaction session with your adopted family and some of the villagers as well. This will give you an opportunity to ask them questions about the 'kampung' lifestyle. Next, you will be treated to a cultural performance before turning in for the night.
The next day, you will have breakfast with your adopted family and then you will be brought to visit the Sungai Punggor estuary and an old historical Dutch well.
Thus ends your 'kampung' stay experience. Experience the charm of Malay traditions that have been preserved throughout the ages, which remain very much alive. And when you return home, take with you a memorable cultural experience, and the friendships of a family happy to welcome you whenever you return to the village!
